1969 Toyota FJ40

I started the body off frame restoration in April 2007 - near finished October 2009. I had spent some time planning the entire drivetrain and overall plan before starting my build.

The specs

Drivetrain:
Engine: 2001 Drive By Wire Chevy 5.3 Vortec
Radiator: Spector Off Road new 4 core for later model FJ40
Transmission: 1997 Dodge HD NV4500 5 Speed
TransferCase: Stock 3 speed tcase
Axles: 1997 FZJ80 Axles
Tires: 35x12.50x17 BFGoodrich Km2
Wheels: ProComp Forged Alloy 17x9 with a 4" offset
DriveShafts: High Angle Driveline shafts. I used two front shafts from a 1995 Toyota 4runner(s)
Outboarded all the leaf springs (3/4 link suspension will be on next rebuild)

Paint: Pollux Orange done by Johns Autobody

Interior:
Front Seats: Mastercraft reclining TJ suspension seats
Rear Seat: Jeep TJ Mastercraft suspension seat
Tuffy Center console
Steering Column: IDIDIT column with a Grant steering wheel
EZWire Harness using the mini 21 fuse kit.
Metal Tech Full Family Cage welded to the frame

Great sources!
www.lt1swap.com (Did my computer flashing and has excellent online diagrams for do it yourself wire harness) Took me a month to do my wire harness.

www.btbprod.com (Purchased steering column, steering box and mount.) Offered great advice on my engine swap

Spector Off Road (All the rubber and restoration parts such as hatch handle, mirrors and many little parts)

Ih8mud.com Forum based FJ40 website

Downey Off Road (Since gone out of business - Had great parts such as rear tank, Correct Speed Sensor and other Fj40 specific parts)

Contact me if you have questions on my build. Was a LOT of FUN!
